GRAND CARNIVAL GALA 2025

GRAND CARNIVAL GALA AT ESTUDI OLEGUER JUNYENT
AND “THE HIDDEN FACE OF GRÀCIA” TOUR

GranGalaCarnaval2025RE

Emotion History and the III Congress for Curious People are delighted to present their Grand Carnival Gala: a MASQUERADE at the Oleguer Junyent Studio-Workshop.

Our spectacular masquerade will take place on Saturday, March 1, at the Studio-Workshop of Oleguer Junyent (1876-1956), the brilliant painter, set designer, and collector responsible for the lavish decoration of the Círculo del Liceo and other masterpieces of the era, such as Casa Burés. Hidden in the heart of the former town of Gràcia, the Studio-Workshop is a fascinating time capsule, frozen in the Modernist and Art Deco periods of Barcelona. Like an authentic cabinet of curiosities, it holds a unique legacy: decorative arts, ironwork, and ceramics from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, Catalan Gothic paintings, 20th-century avant-garde art, and an impressive collection of theatrical and Carnival costumes.

We will uncover all its secrets under the guidance of Sabine Armengol, the guardian of this artistic dynasty’s heritage. As we enjoy a glass of cava, the Studio-Workshop will come to life in an immersive experience, featuring performances by characters evoking the Carnivals of Barcelona once hosted by the Junyent family.

Throughout this fabulous evening, we will enjoy live performances and a unique soundtrack blending classical music, cabaret, jazz lounge, new wave, and other alternative genres.

The Carnival ticket includes the cultural tour “The Hidden Face of Gràcia,” which will take place on Sunday, March 2, with two available slots at 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM (assigned in order of registration). You will receive an informational email with your scheduled tour time.

The tour will be led by historian Felipe Trigo, a specialist in contemporary history and co-director of Emotion HistoryGràcia, an independent municipality until 1897, is now known as one of the most vibrant cultural centers of Barcelona, with a rich tradition of civic associations and one of Catalonia’s most iconic summer festivalsDuring our tour, we will highlight the historical landmarks of this former town, as well as its most fascinating curiosities, legends, and mysteries.
